Uncle Billy was a hard working man. He lived on a farm, and raised cattle. This herd was often transported between Billy’s farm and Grandpa Bill McGee’s farm so that the pastures stayed green. More about that can be read about over on the post about Jeff’s grandpa McGee.
Uncle Billy was a fun-loving man that liked to joke around a lot. He also enjoyed a nice beer from time to time after a hard day’s work. He was at many family gatherings when I was growing up.

Malissa was a tough as nails cousin of mine. She did know how to give some cousins a hard time, but also knew love. It was very hard seeing one of my younger cousins pass away as she did. She will be remembered.
Malissa loved Halloween. Tales from the Crypt was one of Malissa’s favorite television shows. Around Halloween she’d love to create haunted houses and tell stories to scare younger cousins. Whenever fall rolls around every year and we approach Halloween I think of the fun times we had together.
Malissa loved to wrestle with her sister and mother. They would wrestle one another in to various headlocks and tickle each other afterward.
Growing up Malissa lived with her parents and sister in a trailer on a nice sized piece of land on Rice Road, in Columbia, Missouri, about a block up the street from the home her grandparents lived in at the end of Rice Road. (After a quick google search I think it was 4306 Rice Rd, Columbia, MO where they lived back then… back then Rice Road ended a few houses down from there and her grandparents Owen Nowlin (1925-1999) and Mildred (Nichols) Nowlin (1925-1988) lived in the home at the end of Rice Road. That subdivision has massively expanded since that time based on a quick google maps view and no longer ends where Owen and Mildred used to live).
At the time of her death Malissa was living with her parents on El Chapparal, in Columbia, Missouri. Since that time they have moved to another house that is owned by Mindy Nowlin, Malissa’s sister.
During youth Malissa was a basketball player.
The cause of her death was a form of brain cancer that had signs and symptoms that came on very quickly. It was only a short few months from the time she was diagnosed before she passed away.
Photoed above is a picture of Malissa with one of her nieces, Alexandra (Alex).
Before her death, Malissa worked at Cici’s Pizza in Columbia, Missouri. Yearly at the anniversary of her death her Sister, Parents, and Nieces and Nephews gather there in her remembrance.
One of Mindy Nowlin’s (Malissa’s sister) children was named Malissa in honor of her Aunt. Mindy’s children are Alexandra, Layne, Skyler, and Malissa. Mindy also has a tattoo of her sister.

Chrissie was my Sister-In-Law.
There’s a bit of a funny story related to when Tekla and I got engaged. Tekla asked me, Jeff Thomann, to marry her. I originally was going to ask her on top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas in a trip that we were going to make to see my Brother Danny in Las Vegas when he was stationed down there in the Air Force back in 2005. However, that trip was still about a month from happening back then, and so Tekla jumped the gun on me and asked me before I had a chance to marry her. Since I intended to marry her anyways, I said yes. Almost immediately after that when we went to see Dean and Chrissie right afterwards, Chrissie cut my hair without any blade extenders on the clippers… I thought she was just doing a regular buzz cut, not a completely bald look… so Tekla had Chrissie shave her future husband… got that wild man under control she surely did… 🙂
